UPDATE: The remains of Kelly Paduchowski were found at about 10 a.m. July 5, the Flagstaff Police Department said in a news release. Police are not disclosing the location where she was found as the investigation is ongoing.

The original story is below.

A woman was reported missing after she went on a run and never returned to her northern Arizona home, police and news outlets reported.

Now, 58-year-old Daniel Paduchowski has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault against his missing wife, Kelly Paduchowski, who may be a victim of homicide, the Flagstaff Police Department said in a July 2 news release and during a live press conference recorded by 3TV & CBS 5 News.

Police said they tracked her cell phone to the Schultz Creek Trail at about 10:20 a.m. June 30.

Her husband was then spotted in the same area at about 11:30 a.m., police said. Her phone was then tracked at her home at about 12:13 p.m. in the Coconino Estates neighborhood, police said.

Photos captured Daniel Paduchowski and his wife’s white Mazda CX-5 at the Campbell Mesa Trailhead at about 1:30 p.m., police said.

He then reported his wife missing at 7:39 p.m. from the Lake Mary area, which is about a 20-mile drive southeast from the Schultz Creek Trail, where police initially tracked her phone.

Rescuers continue to search for missing woman

In the report, police were told she went running and swimming but never returned, The Arizona Daily Sun reported.

Police said they arrested her husband on suspicion of aggravated assault after interviewing family members and witnesses and processing evidence. He’s also a suspect in her homicide, police said during the conference.

Rescuers searched for Kelly Paduchowski at the trailhead by foot, on horseback and with a helicopter, the Daily Sun reported.

Rescue and recovery teams will continue to look for her, police said at the news conference.

Police are asking residents for doorbell camera footage from the Paduchowski’s neighborhood, the Daily Sun said.

The investigation is ongoing, and “the number one priority is to locate Kelly,” police said.

Flagstaff is about a 145-mile drive north from Phoenix.
