A 22-year-old man was shot dead in his truck during a headphones sale gone wrong, Florida law enforcement said.

At about 9:30 p.m. July 20, Brandon Leo drove to a home in central Florida to sell a pair of headphones, according to a July 22 news release from the Sanford Police Department.

Leo pulled into the driveway in his white pickup truck and was waiting for the buyer when two people approached him from the driver’s side, police said.

He started reversing out of the driveway, but shots were fired and Leo was struck, according to police. His truck, still reversing, rolled into a retention pond and sank partly underwater, police said.

Investigators found Leo dead in the truck from a gunshot wound and are describing the incident as a fatal shooting.

“A family is grieving the loss of their son over a pair of headphones,” Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said. “Senseless doesn’t begin to describe this tragedy. Our investigators have been working diligently to locate these two individuals who clearly have no regard for the value of a human life.”

Police are working to identify the two individuals and are asking for the public’s help.

Sanford is about a 25-mile drive north from downtown Orlando.
