A teen was found “bleeding heavily” after deputies said a neighbor shot her with a BB gun in Oregon.

The girl was clearing brush from an old fort in her backyard at about 6:45 p.m. July 22 in Bandon, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Then, she suddenly felt “severe shoulder pain,” deputies said.

Her mother went to check on her after hearing a popping noise and found her daughter “bleeding heavily,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Their 41-year-old neighbor, identified as Chase Tolliver, was staring “angrily” at them, deputies said.

The teenage girl was taken to a hospital with a BB embedded into her skin, deputies said. Medical staff said removing the BB would cause significant risks.

Authorities said they met with the teen and her mom at a hospital to talk about what happened and said they determined Tolliver had shot her with a BB gun, causing serious injury.

Tolliver was arrested on assault and unlawful use of a weapon charges.

Bandon is city near the southern Oregon coastline.
