A loyal Maryland lottery player likes to stick to her routine.

So much so, the Parkville woman generally only buys her tickets from four stores, Maryland Lottery officials said in an Aug. 7 news release.

However, when she broke her faithful routine, it led her to a big lottery win.

The woman told lottery officials she doesn’t know why but on Aug. 3 she walked to a Baltimore convenience store “outside of her usual routine.”

“In a scratch-off playing mood,” the woman bought a few tickets, lottery officials said.

“I was about to leave when I noticed two dollar bills in my purse,” the woman told lottery officials.

She put that $2 toward a quick-pick Bonus Match 5 ticket: a ticket that earned her a $50,000 prize, lottery officials said.

“It really came down to those two split-second decisions,” the woman said, per the release. “It’s crazy.”

The woman told lottery officials she plans to use her winnings to pay off some bills.

“After that, I have no idea,” the woman said. “Something fun will pop into my head, I’m sure.”

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.
