Powerball player misses $185 million jackpot — but still wins big in Maryland
A Powerball ticket sold in Maryland won $50,000 but missed the $185 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers plus the Powerball in the drawing Wednesday, Aug. 7, the Maryland Lottery said in a news release.
Nobody won the grand prize, which rises to an estimated $201 million, with a cash value of $100 million, for the next drawing Saturday, Aug. 10, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 6, 19, 35, 47 and 57 with a Powerball of 9, the lottery said. The Power Play was 3.
The $50,000 Maryland ticket was sold at a convenience store in Edgewater, which is about a 30-mile drive south of Baltimore.
More than 392,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the state lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot has gone unclaimed since July 3, when an Ohio player hit the $139.3 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
