Woman buys lottery ticket after church — then keeps preaching. ‘Thank you, Lord!’
When a woman decided against going to the laundromat because it was full, she did some shopping instead.
She went to a Schnucks grocery store in Jennings, Missouri, where she purchased a Heaps of $500s scratch-off ticket, according to Missouri Lottery officials.
The full laundromat ended up being a blessing in disguise. She won the game’s top prize of $100,000.
“Oh, my God! Thank you, Lord!” the winner, who had just returned from church when she went to the store, told lottery officials.
Her $100,000 win is one of six jackpot prizes offered in the game, which costs $5 to play.
When she showed her ticket to her son, he mistook her prize with one not quite as grand.
“He goes, ‘I think you won $20,000,’” she said. “And I told him that I thought he had gotten it wrong.”
With her winnings — $100,000, not $20,000 — the winner said she plans to fix up her house and save for Christmas.
Jennings is a northwest suburb of St. Louis.
