A Missouri man and woman have been charged after officials say the woman picked the man up after he broke out of jail.

On Dec. 8, the 28-year-old man called his child’s mother and told her to “come get him because he was going to break out” of the Jennings Correctional Facility, according to a news release from the St. Louis County Police Department.

The man hid in a closet at the facility for a short time, then he fought with a corrections officer and took their key card, officials said.

The man exited the building and got into the woman’s vehicle, and the two drove away, according to police.

Police later found the man and woman at her home, police said.

The man was charged with escape from custody while under arrest and assault. The woman was charged with hindering prosecution. She is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond, police said.
