Customer upset over drive-thru order pushes and chokes Arby’s worker, Utah cops say
A 51-year-old man is accused of choking a fast-food employee after becoming upset with his order, police in Utah said.
Police said the incident happened at about 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 28 in South Jordan, about a 15-mile drive south from Salt Lake City.
The man “was upset with his order” in the drive-thru and got out of his vehicle to confront an employee, police said.
The employee was described as a juvenile.
The man “said something along the lines of asking (the employee) if he is man enough to have a conversation,” police said.
He “pushed the victim with his right hand and moved his hand up to the victim’s neck which constricted the breathing of the victim,” police said.
The man shoved the employee “with enough force where (the employee) was pushed back against the wall and door of the restaurant,” police said.
The man left the restaurant, and police went to his home, where he said he’d “made a mistake at the Arby’s drive-thru,” police said.
The man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, aggravated child abuse-reckless and disorderly conduct, according to a probable cause affidavit from police. McClatchy News isn’t naming the man, pending criminal charges.
