A 12-year-old girl called 911 when she heard her mom yell “He’s trying to kill me,” then she found her mom covered in blood, Florida authorities said.

But by the time help arrived, Enese Pierre had died from the stabbing, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Now, 45-year-old Makinson Devalcin is charged with first-degree murder.

Pierre’s 12-year-old daughter called 911 at about 3 a.m. Jan. 5 to report her stepdad had a knife and her mom had been stabbed and was bleeding, according to an arrest affidavit.

The girl told investigators that before that, her mom came home and said goodnight, then she later heard her mom yelling for help, deputies wrote in the affidavit. The girl said she went into the other bedroom and found her mom injured and was instructed to call 911.

A roommate who lived with the family also heard the commotion and went to check it out, at which point she encountered Pierre bleeding on the bed, deputies said. But she said Devalcin pushed her away from the room, so she left and went downstairs, according to investigators.

The daughter went back to the room after her mom told her to call for help, but by the time she returned, her mom was unresponsive, deputies said.

She told detectives Devalcin got up from the bed with a knife and said, “No one messes with me.”

When first responders showed up at the Davenport home, they said they found Devalcin lying facedown on the floor in front of the bedroom with a “shallow laceration to his neck.”

Inside the room, Pierre had died from a stab wound to her neck, first responders reported.

Pierre’s daughter and the roommate both said they didn’t see Devalcin with any injuries when they each came across the bloody scene, so it’s unclear when Devalcin sustained the laceration.

Devalcin was taken to a hospital, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Osceola County is part of the Orlando metropolitan area.
