In-home caregiver beats patient in face with dog dish, New York troopers say
A 52-year-old caregiver was arrested after being accused of attacking his patient with a dog dish, New York officials said.
On March 14, New York State Police arrived at a Steuben County home and learned a man’s in-home caregiver, later identified as Michael Morris, of Canisteo, hit him in the face with a dog bowl following an argument, according to a news release by troopers.
The man had cuts to his nose, facial swelling and a black eye, officials said.
After the attack, Morris forced the man to drive him to Dollar General, where he took his car keys so he couldn’t leave, officials said.
The victim ran off and called 911 after getting help from a nearby residence, officials said.
Troopers went to the Dollar General, but Morris had already left, officials said.
Eventually, authorities contacted Morris via phone and made an agreement to meet at the Dollar General, but Morris didn’t show up, troopers said.
He was found at his home and arrested on charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, and unauthorized use of a vehicle, officials said.
Steuben County is about a 280-mile drive northwest of New York City.
