An Alabama woman backed her car into two police officers after they pulled her over, sending them to a hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.

Now, Kiara Shardae Burnett is facing charges in connection with the incident, including two counts of first-degree assault, leaving the scene of accident with death or personal injury, felony attempt to elude a police officer and reckless endangerment, according to a Huntsville Police Department news release shared with McClatchy News.

Officers stopped Burnett shortly after midnight Sunday, March 30, with an active warrant for violating her probation, police said. But instead of stopping, Burnett tried to drive away, hitting a tow truck in the process, police said.

Then, she put her car in reverse, struck two officers behind her and hit their police vehicle, officers said.

Before Burnett drove away, two passengers in her vehicle, including her child, got out, according to police. They had no injuries.

Burnett then led officers on a police chase, but it ended when she crashed into an unoccupied car, authorities said. She was uninjured when she was taken into custody, police said.

Huntsville is about a 100-mile drive northeast from Birmingham.
