A woman died after California police say her boyfriend threw her from a third-story balcony during an argument.

Witnesses called 911 just before 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, saying they saw “a man throw a woman from a third-floor balcony” at a senior living apartment complex, the San Diego Police Department said in a May 13 news release.

When officers arrived, they found the woman, identified as 61-year-old Irene Williams, in the courtyard with “severe head trauma and a broken femur,” police said.

First responders took her to a hospital, but she died from her injuries, according to police.

The woman’s boyfriend, Albert Turner, 57, was arrested on scene, police said.

Police said they learned the two had an argument earlier in the evening, which led Williams to start throwing Turner’s things “over the railing of the balcony corridor.”

“Turner then threw Williams over the railing onto the concrete below,” police said.

Turner, who is being held without bail on a first-degree murder charge, is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment Thursday, May 15, jail records show.
