Convicted sex offender with knife assaults child while out on bond, MO cops say
A convicted sex offender is back in jail after police say he sexually assaulted a child while out on bond, according to Missouri court records.
Anthony Hawkins is now charged with child molestation, statutory sodomy and kidnapping, according to a criminal complaint filed June 27.
His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
The child, who is under 14 years old, was in a room where Hawkins was staying in Maryland Heights when he threatened them with a rusty knife and poked them with it, according to the complaint.
Hawkins locked the child in the room and forced them to touch him inappropriately while he was naked, according to police.
The child couldn’t escape until police discovered the two in the room while searching the home, the complaint said.
Hawkins had been convicted of forcible sodomy in 1995, according to police. Court records show was released from jail in May after he was charged with resisting arrest and failure to register as a sex offender.
He is in jail without bond, according to the arrest warrant.
Hawkins is scheduled to appear in court on July 7.
Maryland Heights is about a 20-mile drive northwest from St. Louis.
