Mom shoots and kills dad sitting in car with their child, Missouri officials say
A mother accused of fatally shooting the father of her child accepted a plea agreement and was sentenced to 13 years in prison, Missouri officials said.
The 31-year-old mother was sitting in the front seat of a vehicle in December 2022 as her child and his father were sitting in the backseat, according to a July 7 news release from the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court in St. Louis.
She got out of the car, walked to the rear door of the car and shot the 38-year-old father in the neck, officials said.
The dad walked into a nearby grocery store where he “collapsed and died,” according to officials.
The woman’s attorney could not be reached for comment. McClatchy News is not naming the parents to protect the identity of the child.
The mother pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, according to court officials. As part of the plea agreement, charges of child endangerment and two counts of armed criminal action were dismissed, officials said.
