Historic house for sale dramatically shifts styles inside. ‘House blasphemy’
Historic and modern blend together inside this Monroeville, Pennsylvania, house that’s listed for $1 million … and people are split about it.
“Renovated in 2020, it blends historic charm with modern luxury. The original façade was preserved & high-end finishes added,” the listing on Zillow.com says.
“Features include a great room with soaring ceilings, custom trusses, polished concrete floors, black marble hex tile, & natural light through Hope’s windows.”
Outside? Outside is a very different story.
“Hand-carved stone exterior, slate roof, copper gutters,” the listing says.
The three-bedroom, five-bathroom residence was built in 1939.
The home appeared on Zillow Gone Wild, a Facebook page that highlights unique houses on the real estate market, and people were a little confused about the interior style.
“Looks like a good house for sock sliding,” one person observed.
“When Grandma left her house to someone that didn’t need it, this happened,” another said.
“Blah- I’d have to gut it… that’s almost house blasphemy…” someone commented.
“I love it. No notes. Now if I just had a million dollars laying around,” someone said.
“(It’s) like the tardis. It’s bigger inside,” one person noted.
Monroeville is about a 15-mile drive east from Pittsburgh.
