Woman goes for late-night swim and finds 5-year-old dead in pool, Texas cops say
A woman’s midnight swim turned into a tragic discovery when she found a 5-year-old girl unresponsive in the pool, Texas police said.
Two witnesses helped pull the girl out of the pool around 12:05 a.m. on July 25 and attempted to resuscitate her as they called 911, Houston police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The child left her residence and gained access to the apartment pool, according to interviews with the family and surveillance footage obtained by police.
Authorities said there were no signs of foul play.
Her identification is pending verification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, police said.
