When a Maryland father heard his daughter shouting, he came running.

However, the worried dad entered the room to find his daughter not in distress but dancing and clutching a lottery ticket, Maryland Lottery officials said in an Aug. 21 news release.

The father soon realized the shouts he heard just moments ago were happy ones, as his daughter won a $50,000 prize on a $5 MONOPOLY™ X20 scratch-off ticket she bought from a Windsor Mill liquor store on the way home from work, lottery officials said.

“I could hardly get the words out when my dad came in,” the daughter told lottery officials.

Her celebratory dance, though, gave it all away.

“In fact, he joined me,” the winner said.

The woman told lottery officials she plays games a couple of times a month when she has the urge to, but the day she bought her winning ticket, “the feeling was strong.”

Windsor Mill is about 10-mile drive northeast from downtown Baltimore.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.
