Biden and Foxx to visit Charlotte Thursday

Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will visit Charlotte on Thursday morning to tout the need for investing in the nation’s infrastructure.

They’re scheduled to hold an event at 10 a.m. at Extravaganza Depot, a reception hall in NoDa.

The two also plan to visit Charleston and Columbia in South Carolina on their Grow America tour.

Foxx has campaigned to prevent the Highway Trust Fund, the major source of transportation funding, from going broke. He has traveled the country “ringing alarm bells” about a looming crisis as America’s surging population outstrips the infrastructure to support it. Jim Morrill
