Anthony Foxx and Tim Scott headline panel discussion

U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, two of the highest ranking African American officials in the country, will headline a panel discussion in Charlotte Saturday.

At 1 p.m., the two will talk about African Americans in the faith community and their role in “advancing economic and political interests in the 21st Century.” They’ll speak at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3400 Beatties Ford Road.

Preceding that event will be a noon discussion featuring state Sens. Joel Ford of Charlotte and Marlon Kimpson of South Carolina. The event is free and open to the public. Jim Morrill
