Who’s donated the most to U.S. Senate candidates from Mecklenburg County? Here’s the list

Campaign finance reports for U.S. Senate candidates ending June 30 show Democratic nominee Cheri Beasley leading Republican Rep. Ted Budd in fundraising.

Beasley has raised $16.02 million compared to Budd’s $6.49 million from the beginning of the fundraising period in 2021 to the most recent data available through the Federal Election Commission. Beasley also leads Budd in money left to spend at the end of the reporting period and donations from Mecklenburg County residents.

Beasley has received about $688,000 in donations from people with Mecklenburg County addresses who gave more than $200, according to campaign finance reports. Budd has received $456,000 in local donations of more than $200. The two totals don’t include contributions of less than $200 because the Federal Election Commission doesn’t require campaigns to list them individually.
