What’s next for Huntersville? Mayoral candidates talk issues at forum discussion

It’s no secret that Charlotte and its neighboring towns are growing quickly. And with that growth come some pains.

In Huntersville, the past year has brought heated debates on what to do about traffic, about possible expansion at Birkdale Village and whether to allow a massive $800 million development called Lagoona Bay to be built.

Now, Huntersville will elect a new mayor in November to guide the town in the coming years. Incumbent Mayor Melinda Bales is not running for reelection, leaving an opening for newcomer candidates Dan Boone, Christy Clark and Derek Partee.

Hear all three talk about issues facing Huntersville and answer questions at a forum discussion on Friday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at Red Rocks Cafe in Birkdale Village, 8712 Lindholm Dr, Huntersville, NC 28078.

With our news partners NeighborhoodTV and WSOC-TV, the forum will be moderated by the Observer’s local government editor Josh Bergeron and WSOC’s Joe Bruno.

Submit any questions you think we should ask in the Google Form below, or by sending an email to news@charlotteobserver.com with “Huntersville mayor” in the subject line.

The Charlotte Observer, NeighborhoodTV and WSOC-TV will host a Huntersville mayoral candidate forum on Oct. 20.
