Longtime Mecklenburg deputy manager out amid change in county leadership
Longtime Mecklenburg deputy manager Anthony Trotman is no longer with county government.
County Manager Mike Bryant confirmed the departure, first reported by WFAE, in an interview with The Charlotte Observer. He said Trotman was “transitioning out of the organization.” Bryant was previously a deputy county manager alongside Trotman.
“Anthony Trotman has served this community very well during his tenure, and he’s made some significant contributions to the organization as a whole … I wish him the very best.,” said Bryant, who took over for the retiring Dena Diorio in June.
A county spokesperson declined to provide additional comment on Trotman’s exit. WFAE reported Bryant “pushed out” Trotman.
A public records request from the Observer for the parts of Trotman’s personnel file subject to release under state law wasn’t fulfilled as of Friday.
As an assistant county manager, Trotman oversaw Mecklenburg’s health and human services agency. His salary was $311,511, according to the Observer’s county employee salary database.
He’d been with the county since September 2015 and previously worked for Franklin County, Ohio.
Bryant told the Observer he’s hired two new deputy county managers since taking office: Kimm Campbell, from Broward County, Florida, and Michelle Attreed, from Prince William County, Virginia.
In one of his first public appearances after taking over for Diorio, Bryant announced plans to add a new deputy county manager position focused on “upward mobility.”
