Dan Bishop to seek Bob Rucho’s N.C. Senate seat
State Rep. Dan Bishop announced Monday his campaign for the Senate seat that will be vacated by fellow Mecklenburg Republican Bob Rucho.
Rucho, 66, announced last week that he would leave the Senate after this term. Bishop, a Charlotte lawyer and former county commissioner, is in his first term in the House.
“This is a critical Senate seat for our region and for the entire state,” Bishop said in a statement. “It must be held by a conservative committed to defending our freedoms and supporting reforms that will create greater prosperity and opportunity for all North Carolinians.”
