The Rock Hill campaign event for Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has been moved to the Winthrop Coliseum, according to a campaign staffer.

The coliseum seats 6,100 for sports events and graduations. The Dec. 2 town hall event had been scheduled for Winthrop’s McBryde Hall, which has a capacity of 600.

Joe St. John, a Carson campaign staffer from York County, confirmed the change.

Doors will open at noon for the 2 p.m. event, St. John said. More details will be released later.

The event is free, but tickets are required and are available on the website Eventbrite.

Carson travels with a Secret Service detail. Winthrop Police Chief Frank Zebedis said details about security, parking, traffic and more will likely be released Monday to give the public plenty of time to plan.
