Mecklenburg race headed to recount

One Mecklenburg County legislative candidate has asked for a recount after a canvass of votes from last week’s primary showed him losing by 13 votes.

Elections officials said Noah Lieberman has asked for a recount after losing the House District 103 Democratic primary to Rochelle Rivas. The winner faces Republican Rep. Bill Brawley.

Tuesday’s canvass also found that Republican Rep. Charles Jeter won his District 92 primary by 35 votes over Tom Davis.

He’ll face Democrat Chaz Beasley in the fall.
