The Charlotte Observer and WBTV are hosting a mayoral debate between Democrat Vi Lyles and Republican Kenny Smith on Wednesday.

The debate, sponsored by Duke Energy, will take place at WBTV’s studios and will air live on WBTV’s Channel 3 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Moderated by WBTV anchor Jamie Boll, the debate will include a panel of three journalists: Steve Crump of WBTV; and the Observer’s Steve Harrison and Katie Peralta.
