President Trump is returning to Charlotte for a campaign rally before primary

President Donald Trump is returning to Charlotte for a rally the day before the presidential primary, his campaign said Friday.

The president will host a “Keep America Great” rally at 7 p.m. March 2 at Bojangles’ Coliseum. Trump was in Charlotte last Friday for an “opportunity now” summit at Central Piedmont Community College.

Doors for the March 2 event will open at 3 p.m. for general admission, his campaign announced.

“Big News,” Ken Farnaso, deputy press secretary for the Trump campaign, tweeted with four exclamation marks at 5 p.m.

@RealDonaldTrump & @TeamTrump are headed to my homestate of North Carolina on March 2nd — we’re expecting huge crowds at @TheBOplex so make sure you RSVP quick.”

Trump’s announcement comes as the Democratic presidential candidates have started to focus on North Carolina. Michael Bloomberg campaigned in Raleigh and the Triad on Thursday, and Sen. Bernie Sanders was in Durham and Charlotte on Friday. Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is scheduled to hold a Charlotte town hall on the afternoon of Feb. 27.
