How to get your Mecklenburg County sample ballot ahead of the 2022 midterm elections
Whether it’s your first time voting or your 50th, it’s important to know which candidates will be on your ballot before heading to your polling place or sitting down with your absentee ballot.
Across the Charlotte area and all of North Carolina, numerous candidates are running for various positions. Your districts — from state Senate to school districts — are determined by your address and will decide which races show up on your ballot.
In Mecklenburg County, there’s an online system for finding out your districts and generating a sample ballot that will show you what to expect when you vote.
Here are the steps for getting your information:
- Visit the county Board of Elections website at mecknc.gov/BOE.
- Click “Polling Locations” in the side panel.
- Choose the “Confirm your Election Day voting place by using your current address” option.
- Enter the street address at which you’re registered to vote.
Once you’ve entered your address, the website will provide a list of the districts your home falls in. You will also have the option to see a list of all the elected officials currently representing you at the federal, state and local levels.
When elections are coming up, you will also have the option to see a sample ballot. Sample ballots show you each race in an election you’re eligible to vote in and the candidates for each role.
