Tariq Bokhari, Charlotte City Council’s District 6 Republican incumbent, edged out Democratic challenger Stephanie Hand on Tuesday.

Bokhari captured 11,698 votes, which was 352 more than Hand, according to unofficial data from the N.C. Board of Elections.

Bokhari, data show, performed well in the precincts just west of Providence Road and farther south along Carmel Road. Hand did best on the district’s edges, in precincts around South Boulevard to the west and Monroe Road to the east.
