Want to know before you go? Some NC counties let you check voting wait times online
If you want to avoid long lines while casting your vote early, some North Carolina counties have a solution.
Several local boards of elections have wait time trackers, allowing you to check the current wait time at any voting location in your county.
Wake, Durham, Orange, Forsyth, Guilford, Cabarrus and Buncombe counties are among those with wait time trackers.
Each tracker is different, but all provide the name and address of each voting location, as well as a link to directions and the current wait time. Some dashboards, maintained by ArcGIS, show each voting location on a map and allow you to toggle over your precinct. Others allow you to sort and filter locations based on distance or wait time.
Check your local board of elections website to see if your county has a wait time tracker.
Thursday was the first day of early voting and saw record-breaking turnout at the polls.
The last day to vote early is Saturday, Nov. 2.
