Donald Trump will rally supporters in Gastonia on final day of NC early voting

Former President Donald Trump’s weekend campaign swing through North Carolina will include a stop in the Charlotte area.

The Republican presidential candidate will hold a rally in Gastonia Saturday, his campaign announced Wednesday night. The event will be held at noon at the Gastonia Municipal Airport, according to the campaign’s announcement. Trump, who rallied supporters in Rocky Mount Wednesday, is also scheduled to hold a rally in Greensboro Saturday night.

Saturday is the final day of early voting in North Carolina, during which more than 3.1 million people already cast their ballots.

The Democratic ticket also plans a rally in the Charlotte area Saturday. Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to hold a rally at a yet-to-be named location in Charlotte Saturday after a rally in Raleigh Wednesday. Her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, held events in Charlotte, Greensboro and Asheville Wednesday.

The latest polls show a tight race in North Carolina.

An Elon University poll released Tuesday has the presidential contest tied, with Harris and Trump each getting support from 46% of respondents. A WRAL poll also released Tuesday showed the race tied at 47%, with 2% of respondents saying they plan to vote for a third-party candidate and 4% undecided.
