Have you run for elected office before? (Please list previous offices sought):

Yes, I currently serve as Charlotte City Councilwoman At-Large. I have been serving since January of 2017.

Please list your highlights of civic involvement

I was appointed by Mayor Lyles to chair The Environment, Equity, and Engagement Committee (EEE) and as vice chair of the budget committee. I am also a member of the Economic Development Committee.- Prior to serving on the City Council, I was a commissioner on the Charlotte Housing Authority Board.

Should the City Council limit the number of new parking garages in and near uptown to encourage the use of public transportation?

As part of our Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), we are exploring ways to let the market decide what the parking minimums should be rather than the regulations. This is one of our tools to address three important issues: 1. Rising cost of building 2. Air pollution 3. Congestion

Describe your views on using public money to help build or improve private sports facilities or stadiums.

I will never write a blank check to build/improve private sports facilities or stadiums. We must consider the restricted tourism funds to address any funding requests and understand the community benefits and the rate of return on our investments.

Is there an area where you disagree with your party? Why?

Yes, I disagree with certain members of our party as it relates to de-funding our police.

What one professional or political accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am widely known for chairing the Environment Committee and helping Charlotte become a global leader in sustainability with bipartisan support. The adoption of the Strategic Energy Action Plan (SEAP) is the city’s first-ever framework to transition to a low carbon future.

What separates you from your opponents?

I am a working mom, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a proven leader.

I am widely known for chairing the Environment Committee and helping Charlotte become a global leader in sustainability with bipartisan support. The adoption of the Strategic Energy Action Plan (SEAP) is the city’s first-ever framework to transition to a low carbon future. Also, I have a record of bold accomplishments on affordable housing. I played an integral role in securing the funding and neighborhood support for the St. John’s Place affordable housing development. I continue to work to expand access to affordable housing, increase local awareness and action on school safety, and bring traction and economic opportunities to the 69-acre Eastland site, an area left undeveloped for years.

A young mother’s perspective is critical to the decision making of working families everyday. I have grown into governance and consensus building as a decision maker.

Recognizing my experience, tenacity and passion, Mayor Lyles appointed me to the following committees:

Chair: Environment, Equity and Engagement (EEE) Committee

Vice Chair: Budget Committee

Economic Development Committee
