Should the City Council limit the number of new parking garages in and near uptown to encourage the use of public transportation?
We are caught between between the past & the future: Not enough transportation infrastructure; more light rail is 20 yrs down the road & the unknowns of how self driving cars & future tech will impact our city. I believe parking requirements should be gradually reduced for ALL developments; planners should be strongly encouraged to incorporate secure parking for bicycles, scooters & motorcycles and loading zones need to be thoughtfully planned as the need for these won’t be eliminated.
Describe your views on using public money to help build or improve private sports facilities or stadiums.
I am so excited that Mr. Tepper has 2 pools of enthusiastic fans to buy seat licenses to finance a new stadium. That is the only equitable way to fund these facilities.
Is there an area where you disagree with your party? Why?
On paper I completely agree with my party’s platform – it is the most progressive platform in our nation’s history, chock full of initiatives that have 2/3rds or more support from ALL Americans. My disagreement/dissatisfaction is that virtually none of these things are being implemented.
What separates you from your primary opponents?
I have the most credibility & experience volunteering, collaborating with citizens, fighting the city, and improving and promoting District 5 for the good of all its residents & doing it thru a lens of equity. I also have the largest variety of work experience that will make me a very effective Council member. Finally, I want what our citizens need & want for their communities & I will advocate tirelessly for them.
What one professional or political accomplishment are you most proud of?
Collaborating thru New South Progressives with Council members & CMPD to eliminate the Extraordinary Events Ordinance which was a form of Stop & Frisk.
