If you’re a member of the minority party, how will you be an effective legislator as a member of the minority party?

By leveraging the relationships with the leadership and membership of the majority party. To look for ways to collaborate on pieces of legislation that are bipartisan and are beneficial to the people of my particular District, and the citizens of the State as a whole.

School test scores dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic. What should North Carolina do to improve student performance?

Focus on personalized instruction and superlative support from staff, parents,and communities of influence to bring those who are struggling up to a level where they are competitive across the board with their student counterparts that may not face the same challenges.

What do you want to happen in North Carolina if Roe v. Wade is overturned?

I would still advocate for a woman’s right to choose, and would advocate for safe and effective ways for them to exercise that most personal, private decision.

What should North Carolina do to reduce violent crime?

We should take a holistic approach to policing and law enforcement. We need to engage trusted community resources to begin to build partnerships with troubled areas where crime is prevalent. We also need to stop the availability of illegal guns on our streeets. illegal guns

Should medical marijuana be legalized in North Carolina?

Yes it should be.

What should the state’s minimum wage be? What policies would you support to help struggling North Carolinians?

I believe the broader conversation should be had to establish a living wage in North Carolina, one that is indexed by the cost of living and other economic factors that are particular to the area of the State and the broader community that we find ourselves in.

Should North Carolina expand Medicaid, and how?

Yes, Medicaid expansion is critical need in North Carolina. We can achieve this by expanding eligibility and services to the broader population. And the State should fully accept Medicaid reimbursements from the Federal government.

Is there an area where you disagree with your party? Why?

Yes, I believe that the Party focuses too much on social issues and not putting an emphasis on what I call kitchen table issues that effect the everyday lives of the citizens of North Carolina.
