Name two personal traits that best qualify you to be a Mecklenburg County judge?

Fairness and Accountability

Do the courts provide judgments that are racially fair? If so, say why. If not, how could you change that?

I am required to apply the law to the facts in evidence. Race is not what I must consider when applying the law.

Why should the public, the government or the accused trust that you’ll be a competent judge?

I have 25 years of experience in the judicial system. I have 17 years of experience practicing law. I was a farm out public defender for 17 years.

Is there an area where you disagree with North Carolina laws or policies and procedures in the courtroom?

My opinion is irrelevant. I don’t make the law. I apply the law as it is written.

What separates you from your general election opponent?

Since October of 2021, I have presided over District Civil. I have eliminated the backlog of summary ejectment cases in 11 months. I have resolved close to 2000 cases and have held jury trials as I would in Superior Court.

What one professional or political accomplishment are you most proud of?

As a lead civil judge I have worked tirelessly to hear as many cases as possible and to allow parties’ to be heard. I serve our community and I am proud of the progress I have made in just 11 months.
