What are the most important issues facing Charlotte, and how would you address them?

Affordable housing and public safety are Charlotte’s biggest issues, and I would prioritize zoning reforms and stronger community-police relations to address both.

The city of Charlotte provided CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings with more than $305,000 in a deal reached during a private meeting – details of which were not available until news outlets started reporting on the issue. Did the city handle this correctly based on what the public knows about the situation? Why or why not?

No, the lack of transparency in this deal undermines public trust, and I would push for clearer communication and accountability in all city dealings.

How will you earn public trust in the wake of public controversies that roiled City Council this spring?

I will earn public trust through consistent action, transparency, and by ensuring every decision reflects the values of honesty and community service.

How will you work to improve transparency within city government?

I would create a public transparency portal and hold regular town hall meetings to ensure residents have access to important information and a direct line to the City Council.

The General Assembly has given Mecklenburg County permission to put a referendum on the ballot to raise the county’s sales tax to fund road, rail and bus projects. Will you vote in favor of the referendum? Why or why not?

I will not support sales tax because of inflation

Is there an area where you disagree with your party on local or state issues? Why?

I believe that, in addition to economic freedom, we should focus on supporting immigrant and marginalized communities by providing better access to education, housing, and employment.

What separates you from your opponent(s)?

My unique perspective as an immigrant woman from a humble background, combined with my dedication to community service and integrity, sets me apart from my opponents.

What one professional or political accomplishment are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of my work establishing a Korean American consulting group that has helped minority communities gain access to resources and opportunities.
