Have you run for elected office before? (Please list previous offices sought or held)

Yes, I ran for commissioner last election year against the four incumbents but was not elected.

Please list your highlights of civic involvement

I am currently serving on the Mint Hill Board of Adjustments.

What are the most important issues facing Mint Hill, and how would you address them?

Infrastructure is a very important issue for the town, and I would advocate for more support from the city. I would also vote to make sure the town’s money is spent wisely, and make sure it goes where it needs to go.

How should Mint Hill handle residential, commercial and industrial development? Should the town change any ordinances or rules to alter how development occurs? If so, what?

With residential development, the ordinance should be one house per 1/2 acre to help slow down the growth, and put less strain on our infrastructure, water and sewer.

What’s the best thing the Board of Commissioners has done for Mint Hill in the last 4 years? And what’s the worst thing?

The addition of the fire station and public works facility has been a huge asset to the town, thanks to the Board of Commissioners. Overall, I feel they have done a decent job with decisions made for the town

The General Assembly has given Mecklenburg County permission to put a referendum on the ballot to raise the county’s sales tax to fund road, rail and bus projects. Will you vote in favor of the referendum? Why or why not?

I don’t want to see the taxes raised; however, if they have to be raised I would like to know that the money would benefit the Town of Mint Hill.

What separates you from your opponent(s)?

I was born and have lived in Mint Hill all my life. I’m a blue collar worker. I’m not a politician, I’m just a regular guy who wants to make a difference and keep our town a great place for current and future residents to live.

What one professional or political accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am proudest of my business. I started my own landscape business and have operated and helped it grow for 16 years, and am now also adding an additional component of hanging lights for the holidays. As I have created one of the largest Christmas light displays in Charlotte, I’m proud to bring joy to people who come to see the show, as well as those customers that I put up lights for!
