Political party: Nonpartisan
Which position are you running for on the Charlotte City Council? Town Council
Age: 61
Campaign website or social media page: Elect Tom Amburgey
Occupation: Resturant Management
Education: Some college
Have you run for and/or held elected office before? (Please list previous offices sought and/or held): Yes. Been on Town Council since 2021.
What are your top priorities to manage the rapid growth Indian Trail is experiencing?: Slow density to a snails pace. Concentrate on roads and infrastructure.
Earlier this year, social media controversies – specifically linked to the Indian Trail Weasel Report Facebook page – contributed to a divide amongst town council members. How do you plan to work collaboratively with other council members and ensure a transparent government process for residents?:
I support the Weasel Report posts they are facts, current council members don’t want the truth to be told as not to show their voting record. They call the post lies when in fact they are very truthful. The claims on the WR have yet to be debunked.
Traffic congestion – especially along US-74 – has become a growing problem. How do you plan to address this?:
This problem has occurred due to the rapid growth from the previous council’s approving housing development after development. We need to come to a complete halt in housing as to allow for road improvements and that’s exactly what I’ve done the past four years not approving any major projects.
What do you believe in the most pressing issue facing Indian Trail in the next 5 years?:
The roads infrastructure.
What sets you apart from other candidates?
I’ve been on Council the past four years and I’ve learned a lot. We need stable representation with a common sense approach, with my experience in running business and with budgets that is directed towards improving travel for the citizens of Indian Trail. I would like to be re-elected to see this through.
