Have you run for elected office before? Yes. Two-term Mooresville at-large council member, 1997-2005.

Please list your highlights of civic involvement: Volunteer at local American Legion Post. 15-year volunteer at Hospice of Iredell County. Chairman of the Mooresville Rescue Squad Foundation.

What is your vision for Mooresville’s future? Mooresville’s population is growing by leaps and bounds, and that is going to keep happening. We need a plan for it with more mixed use development to support that growth and have land ready when new businesses and jobs come our way. I want to build for the future without forgetting our past.

How should Mooresville best handle traffic and other growth challenges? We need a real plan in place to build better streets and connections so traffic can move faster and safer. As we grow, we should look at options, like a free in town shuttle bus to help people get around. Developers need to do their part, too, and make sure not just to add to the problem

What differentiates you from the other candidates?

I bring experience from serving on the board before, and from my years as a police captain. But what really sets me apart is that I’m out in the community every day – at hospice, veterans events, local high school ball games and school activities, local stores and more. People are always stopping and talking to me about Mooresville. And I listen.
