Baby formula that lacks Vitamin D and has too much sodium and potassium gets recalled
Moor Herbs is recalling all 16-ounce bottles of Angel Formula sold since February 2019 after FDA testing found Angel Formula “did not meet specific nutrition and labeling requirements for infant formula, even though it is marketed as such.”
The specific problems noted in the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice were too much iron, sodium and potassium and too little Vitamin D. The former problem would cause an overload of iron or an electrolyte imbalance. The latter problem could cause rickets, “a softening and weakening of bones” often associated with kids who don’t get enough time outside in the Vitamin D-providing sun.
Throw the plant-based formula away or return it to the seller for a full refund.
