Carolina Panthers reporter (one position): The Carolina Panthers beat reporter breaks news and delivers exclusive enterprise and smart analysis in a fast-paced, competitive environment. The Panthers beat reporter should have a deep knowledge of the NFL and be adept at building league sources. A strong source network is vital to being out front of competitors, and this reporter must be able to find and break news, cover breaking news with urgency and develop compelling enterprise and analysis. NASCAR/breaking sports news reporter: The Observer’s NASCAR reporter will focus on finding the best beat enterprise that’s not available from other sources. In the home of NASCAR, our mission is not covering races and other news that’s widely available from other sources — it’s finding smart enterprise and telling stories that are only in The Observer. About half of this reporter’s time will be focused on real-time sports reporting — being a first responder on breaking news as it’s on the rise in sports fans’ conversations. The State

Real Time News Reporter: The State in Columbia, S.C., is looking for an ambitious, high-energy Real-Time News Reporter to deliver quick-turn stories on interesting news and cultural phenomena from across the state and region. The Real-Time Reporter will be responsible for writing, compiling and/or producing stories and posts on regional flashpoints -- from BBQ to beach erosion to Confederate monuments -- with a focus on stories that are going to drive the social and cultural conversations around the state.
