NC mom who made porn with 4-year-old for boyfriend gets decades behind bars, feds say
A North Carolina woman’s boyfriend convinced her to sexually abuse her son, officials say. Now she’ll spend decades behind bars.
The 31-year-old mom from Mint Hill, North Carolina, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday after she pleaded guilty to producing child pornography involving a 4-year-old victim, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a press release.
“Court records show that (she) created a video depicting sexually explicit conduct with the minor, and sent it via text message to another individual,” according to the release. The incident occurred between Oct. 18 and Oct. 19, 2016.
McClatchy News is not naming the woman to protect the identity of her son.
Her one-time boyfriend, 36-year-old Joshua Douglas Martorelli of Salisbury, was sentenced Dec. 6 to 28 years in prison on child pornography charges after he confessed to coercing two different women to abuse their children for his sexual pleasure, prosecutors said.
The woman and Martorelli started dating in May 2016, according to court documents filed in the case against him. They lived together from June to September or October that year.
At some point during their relationship, the woman told investigators Martorelli asked if he could “perform sex acts” on the boy, the documents state.
She reportedly declined at first.
But the woman later admitted to N.C. State Bureau of Investigation agents that she sent videos of herself performing sex acts on and with her son, the Charlotte Observer previously reported, citing court documents.
She said Martorelli had “threatened to report her to police if she refused,” according to the Observer. He also reportedly threatened to kill her family.
A grand jury indicted the woman on two counts of child pornography in April 2018, court records show. According to Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office inmate records, she was arrested in January 2017 and denied bond.
The woman pleaded guilty in November last year.
