North Carolina

Here are 2019’s top-selling spirits in North Carolina. Did your favorite make the list?

A spirited drink brand held top spots for alcohol sales in North Carolina — and we can definitely raise a glass to that.

Two bottle sizes of Tito’s Handmade Vodka were the most bought spirits in the state in 2019, according to the N.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.

It seems North Carolina shoppers really are vodka fans. Next in the rankings came drinks from:

  • Smirnoff
  • Burnett’s
  • Pinnacle
  • Aristocrat
  • Platinum 7X

All those liquors were bestsellers in 2018, too, WUNC reported.

But what about other spirits?

This year, Hennessy Very Special, a cognac, ranked No. 8 on the list. Also rounding out the 10 most popular drinks were the whiskeys Jack Daniel’s Black Label and bagged Crown Royal, alcohol commission spokesperson Jeff Strickland wrote Tuesday in an email to McClatchy News.

He said the list of 100 spirits comes from the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association and includes 12 months of data through October 2019.

Overall, the least purchased liquor in the top-100 rankings was a gin called Bombay Sapphire.
