Customer saves 8-year-old from attempted kidnapping at Biscuitville, NC cops say

A Biscuitville customer stopped a girl from being kidnapped from the restaurant, media outlets report.

The 8-year-old was having breakfast with her mom, Heather Owen, on Dec. 27 at a Biscuitville in Greensboro, N.C., where the two are regular customers, WGHP reported Sunday.

They had just sat down to eat when Owen noticed that a man sitting near them was staring at them and acting strange, she told WCNC

Soon after, her daughter had to go to the bathroom, and Owen told WCNC that she walked her close enough that she could see her but still keep an eye on their table.

But the man, 55-year-old Timothy Fry, got up and followed the girl, WCNC reported.

As she was coming out of the bathroom, Greensboro police say Fry tried to grab her and take her, according to WXII, but another customer saw what was happening and intervened.

After saving the girl from being kidnapped, he snapped a picture of Fry, who cops say got away, WXII reported

Officers later found Fry and arrested him, WXII reported. He is charged with kidnapping and indecent liberties with a child and is being held on a $300,000 bond, according to Guilford County arrest records.

Owens told WGHP she’s very thankful the customer stepped in.

“He got the biggest hug in the entire world. I went to him and said ‘thank you, you are a guardian angel,’” she said, according to WCNC.

Kathie Niven, Biscuitville president, said in a statement published by WGHP that Biscuitville is working with law enforcement to investigate the incident.

“We join Ms. Owen in being extremely grateful to the good Samaritan at Biscuitville who stepped up to address the situation,” Niven said in the statement.
