Throwing hot soup during a fight leads to arrest of North Carolina man, sheriff says

A man in North Carolina was arrested for throwing hot soup on his girlfriend, police say.

Thomas William Dalton, 32, was charged with assault inflicting serious injury and assault on a female after police responded to a domestic dispute over the weekend, according to a news release.

Deputies with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the home around 6:19 p.m. on Jan. 5.

“An investigation revealed that, during an argument with his girlfriend, Dalton threw hot soup on the victim and hit her,” the release states.

A representative with the sheriff’s office told McClatchy News the couple was cooking soup when the argument began. Dalton then “took the pot off the stove and threw the soup on her.”

Dalton was put in jail on a 48-hour hold. He has since been released.
