Officer opens fire on driver trying to ram people with car, North Carolina cops say
An officer shot at a car Saturday night to stop a driver who was trying to hit pedestrians, North Carolina police say.
The Goldsboro Police Department responded to a “large disturbance” at about 9:30 p.m. near Day Circle that involved several people and several cars, according to a release from the police department.
While officers were there, one of the people involved tried to run over several others with a car and ended up hitting one person, the release says.
An officer shot at the car to try to prevent the driver from hitting anyone else, the release says.
The driver of the car wasn’t hit, the release says, and the car only had minor damage.
The person who was hit by the car was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and has since been released, according to police.
The officer wasn’t hurt, the release says.
The names of those involved have not been released, police say, but criminal charges are “pending.”
