Billie Eilish gets delivery of adoptable pups before NC show — her last show for awhile
What do you do if you have a few hours to kill before performing at PNC Arena?
Billie Eilish ordered a pack of pups.
A car full of puppies from Saving Grace dog rescue in Wake Forest were delivered to PNC Arena to romp and snuggle with the Grammy-winning singer.
Eilish’s Thursday night concert — the third concert on Eilish’s Where Do We Go? world tour — is the largest event in the area still going on as planned amid the rampant cancellations over coronavirus concerns.
But it will be Eilish’s last concert for the next few weeks. About 6:40 p.m., shortly before it began, Eilish posted on Instagram that she will postpone the next 11 shows on her tour through March 28, including at major venues like Madison Square Garden.
“I’m so sad to do this, but we need to keep everyone safe,” Eilish wrote social media. “We’ll let you know when they can be rescheduled. Please keep yourselves healthy. I love you.”
Saving Grace owner Molly Goldston said the rescue group got a call from PNC Arena Thursday that Eilish had a special request: She wanted to play with some puppies.
The group brought over two puppy siblings, Conway and Tammy, and two older dogs, Julep and Bone, for a hang with Eilish and the concert crew.
“They were very down to earth,” Goldston told The News & Observer in an interview. “They were very nice people. It’s wonderful that they want to bring in puppies that need a home and give them some attention and exposure.”
Eilish, 18, is one of the biggest stars in pop music right now. She took home five Grammy Awards last month, including best song, album, record and new artist. She also has released the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film.
Goldston said this is the third time Saving Grace has been asked to deliver some playful pups for a performer.
“I had never been asked to do one, and now I’ve done three,” Goldston said. “Now it’s a trend.”
Eilish and Saving Grace posted videos of the romp on their Instagram pages. As a gift to the artist, PNC Arena is covering the adoption fees of the two older dogs, Julep and Bone. Goldston said Saving Grace’s adoption fee is typically $375.
