Small plane crashes into wooded area in North Carolina, injuring two, officials say
Two people were injured when a small plane crashed in North Carolina on Saturday, April 2, officials said.
The single-engine Cessna 170 crashed around 7:30 p.m. on Smith Farm Road in Stony Point, the Federal Aviation Administration told McClatchy News on Sunday, April 3. Stony Point is about 55 miles north of Charlotte.
The plane went down in a wooded area, local outlet WBTV reported.
Two people were onboard at the time of the crash, the FAA said. One person was airlifted to a hospital and the other was taken to a hospital by Alexander County EMS, the Statesville Record & Landmark reported.
The FAA said it’s investigating the crash. No other information, including on the conditions of those injured, was available as of April 3.
