Someone in North Carolina won big on Mega Millions. Do they know?
Someone bought a $2 Mega Millions ticket at a North Carolina Food Lion and scored a $1 million prize in Tuesday’s national drawing, N.C. lottery officials said Wednesday. But does the winner know?
No one immediately claimed the prize, according to a lottery news release.
The ticket was sold at the store on Idlewild Road in Indian Trail, officials said.
The winner joined two others nationwide to land a $1 million prize, the others in California and Iowa, according to the lottery.
Beating odds of 1 in 12.6 million, the winners matched all of the white balls in the drawing, 1, 7, 23, 38 and 55, according to the Mega Millions page on NCLottery.com.
The winners have six months to claim their prizes.
No one hit the Mega Millions jackpot Tuesday, which climbed to $254 million in Friday’s drawing, or $133.7 million in cash. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.
Players can buy Mega Millions tickets at lottery retailers, through Online Play on the lottery website and on the NC Lottery app.
