The original story is below.

A lottery player is set to get much richer after a ticket worth $2 million was sold in North Carolina.

The Mega Millions player matched enough numbers to win big in the historic drawing on Tuesday, Aug. 8, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote in a news release.

The ticket matched all five white balls for a prize worth $1 million, lottery officials said. That “doubled to $2 million when the 2X Megaplier hit.”

The lucky person bought the $3 ticket at the Buy & Go convenience store in Wilmington.

Though the ticket holder scored a huge prize, they missed the record $1.58 billion jackpot prize by one number. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold near Jacksonville, Florida, McClatchy News reported.

As of noon on Aug. 9, no one has claimed the $2 million North Carolina prize, officials told McClatchy News in an email. But there’s still time, given that winners have about six months to come forward.

The white balls picked in the Mega Millions drawing were: 13, 19, 20, 32 and 33. The gold Mega Ball number was 14.

The odds of hitting the jackpot in the game are more than 1 in 302 million, Mega Millions wrote on its website.
